Lead HR generalist role at the State of New Mexico correctional facility in Las Cruces, NM (onsite), with a pay range of USD 30 - 45 per hour, overseeing day-to-day HR operations such as recruitment, payroll, benefits, and disciplinary actions, while advising facility leadership and staff and ensuring compliance with SPO board rules, policies, and laws.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to staff and management on compensation actions and personnel programs, ensuring adherence to SPO board rules, the CBA, state and federal laws, and department policies
- Compile and submit biweekly reports for Central Office HR and facility leadership
- Administer disciplinary actions in alignment with NMCD policy, the CBA, and SPO board rules under NMCD management direction
- Support regular budget reviews and ACA compliance related to HR functions
- Serve as the HR liaison between the facility and Central Office HR
- Review and approve biweekly payroll, process compensation requests for new hires and transfers, manage and track FMLA and paid parental leave requests, disciplinary actions, and SHARE entries
- Provide guidance on the HR staff's work products at the facility
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in any field
- Two years of experience in HR operations, including recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, investigations, HR related training, and/or occupational analysis
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience totaling six years may substitute for the required education and experience
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license
- Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results
