Job Description

Based onsite in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, The Coastal Companies LLC is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to partner with the HR & Risk Manager. The role focuses on recruiting, managing employee records and payroll, and administering benefits, with opportunities to grow into safety management and broader HR duties as the team expands. The successful candidate will serve as the primary HR contact for assigned organizations, building strong relationships with managers to understand operations and provide timely HR support.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HR liaison for designated organizations, forging connections with managers to understand business operations and deliver HR support.
Oversee end-to-end recruitment including posting roles, screening resumes, conducting interviews, performing reference checks, extending offers, and guiding onboarding.
Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of employee data within the HRIS and personnel files.
Oversee payroll processing, delivering two monthly payrolls and two smaller weekly runs using Timberline, and handle all required federal and state tax deposits and filings.
Administer benefits by communicating eligibility, guiding enrollments, reconciling monthly invoices, and addressing employee questions.
As tenure with the organization grows, take on additional HR responsibilities as assigned.
May assist the HR & Risk Manager with commercial insurance matters, particularly workers compensation administration.

Requirements

At least five years of experience in Human Resources with a generalist background that includes benefits management and payroll administration.
Bachelor's degree in HR or business is preferred.
Working knowledge of employment law and federal and state regulations.
Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and multi-task.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
