Job Description

The Coastal Companies LLC is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support the HR and Risk Manager across multiple organizations. This onsite position in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, covers core HR functions including recruitment, employee data management, payroll preparation, and benefits administration, with potential involvement in safety management and broader HR duties as the organization evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned organizations, building relationships with managers to understand the operation and provide proactive HR support.
  • Oversee the recruitment process from job postings and resume review to interviewing, reference checks, offers, and onboarding.
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of employee information in the database and personnel files.
  • Administer payroll, preparing two monthly and two small weekly payrolls using Timberline, and handle all federal and state tax deposits and reporting.
  • Administer benefits by informing eligibility, managing enrollments, reconciling monthly invoices, and addressing employee questions.
  • Contribute to expanding HR responsibilities as experience with the organization grows.
  • Assist the HR & Risk Manager with commercial insurance matters, particularly in workers’ compensation administration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years in Human Resources with a generalist background that includes benefits management and payroll administration.
  • BS degree in HR or business preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and federal/state regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
