Job Description

Calfus is hiring a Human Resources Associate on its People & Culture team in Redmond, WA to support day-to-day people operations, compliance, engagement, employee lifecycle workflows, and payroll administration across the US and Canada.

Employee lifecycle support: manage end-to-end onboarding, offboarding, and employee records management
Payroll coordination (US & Canada): assist with payroll processing support tasks, timekeeping audits, and compliance checks in coordination with the payroll team
HRIS maintenance: maintain and update HRIS data to ensure accuracy and integrity of employee records
Employee support: respond to employee questions related to employee policies, benefits, and leave management
Compliance documentation: assist with preparation, tracking, and audit-readiness materials for HR compliance documentation
Benefits administration: support analysis and administration of benefits enrolment cycles
Job posting validation: validate job postings for US and Canada regions with region-specific laws and regulations
Cross-functional coordination: work with Finance, IT, and Legal to help enable smooth business operations
Internal communications: support drafting and distributing internal communications and policy updates
HR metrics tracking: track and report on key HR metrics including headcount, attrition, and engagement data
People presence: run people pulse checks and help build People and Culture presence

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in HR operations, people operations, or a related HR function
Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage confidently across all levels of the organization
People & Culture foundation: understanding of core P&C operations including employee lifecycle, HRIS systems, and HR documentation
Adaptability: strong learnability, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and ability to acquire skills on the go
Tools: proficient in Excel and Microsoft Suite
Detail and confidentiality: high attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
Working style: proactive, collaborative mindset with genuine interest in building people-first workplaces
Good to have: at least 6 months of hands-on experience in US & Canada payroll & compliance (for example, FLSA, state-specific wage laws, tax withholdings)
HRIS/payroll platforms: familiarity with Rippling, Workday, ADP, or similar HRIS/payroll platforms is a plus

Salary range: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
Pay factors: compensation is based on several factors including geographical location, education, work experience, certifications, and more

Job Description

Emerald Heights, based in Redmond, WA, is seeking an on-site HR Assistant to support the employee lifecycle under the direction of the HR Director. The role combines technical HR duties with administrative responsibilities to maintain accurate records and enhance the employee experience. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can handle confidential information in a dynamic office setting.

Compensation

Hourly rate: USD 25 - 28 per hour.

Responsibilities

Handle a broad set of duties related to the maintenance and processing of personnel records and reports
Enter employee data into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
Process enrollments, changes, and terminations of participants in all benefit plans and programs
Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including preparation and assistance
Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
Track licenses, certifications, training, and compliance requirements
Assist with audits of files and forms
Administer and help run employee recognition programs
Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries
General filing and record-keeping tasks
Provide clerical and operational support to the HR Director
Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma required
College degree or equivalent experience preferred
Two years of administrative office experience, preferably in Human Resources
Experience with an HRIS or electronic payroll system
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Ethical practice, confidentiality, and relationship management
Welcoming, warm, and friendly in all interactions with residents, visitors, and staff

Ability to multitask and learn new functions quickly
