Job Description

A proactive on site Human Resources and Administrative support role in Shelbyville, IL, assisting HR operations, payroll duties, and general office administration at Shelby County Community Services, Inc.

Responsibilities

Process initial and annual background checks for new hires and existing staff
Serve as the SCCS fingerprinting vendor, scheduling and completing fingerprints for prospective employees
Collaborate with supervisors to address staffing needs and onboarding for new hires
Plan and conduct new hire orientations
Submit and retrieve required documents such as FMLA and STD forms
Collect, organize, and file documents (contracts, leases, etc.)
Reconcile vouchers with the County Clerk's office
Manage office supply procurement
Answer phone inquiries in a professional manner
Submit employment verifications to the state promptly
Maintain organized employee records including I-9s and tax forms
Willingness to serve as a Direct Support Provider (DSP) for persons served
Assist with human capital management activities such as recruitment, onboarding, employee orientation, and performance evaluations
Support benefits administration processes, including data entry and enrollment procedures
Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR records
Coordinate employee relations initiatives and facilitate clear communication between staff and management
Maintain a courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor with visitors and staff
Full list of responsibilities will be presented at interview
Assist with payroll duties as part of the business office

Requirements

3 to 5 years of HR experience in administrative support roles, preferably within human resources or related fields
Knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, OSHA regulations, and labor law compliance
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Excellent communication skills with a focus on confidentiality and professionalism
Experience in benefits administration, employee evaluation processes, training and development, and conflict management is highly desirable
Associate degree is required
