Job Description

A proactive on site Human Resources and Administrative support role in Shelbyville, IL, assisting HR operations, payroll duties, and general office administration at Shelby County Community Services, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Process initial and annual background checks for new hires and existing staff
  • Serve as the SCCS fingerprinting vendor, scheduling and completing fingerprints for prospective employees
  • Collaborate with supervisors to address staffing needs and onboarding for new hires
  • Plan and conduct new hire orientations
  • Submit and retrieve required documents such as FMLA and STD forms
  • Collect, organize, and file documents (contracts, leases, etc.)
  • Reconcile vouchers with the County Clerk's office
  • Manage office supply procurement
  • Answer phone inquiries in a professional manner
  • Submit employment verifications to the state promptly
  • Maintain organized employee records including I-9s and tax forms
  • Willingness to serve as a Direct Support Provider (DSP) for persons served
  • Assist with human capital management activities such as recruitment, onboarding, employee orientation, and performance evaluations
  • Support benefits administration processes, including data entry and enrollment procedures
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR records
  • Coordinate employee relations initiatives and facilitate clear communication between staff and management
  • Maintain a courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor with visitors and staff
  • Full list of responsibilities will be presented at interview
  • Assist with payroll duties as part of the business office

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of HR experience in administrative support roles, preferably within human resources or related fields
  • Knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, OSHA regulations, and labor law compliance
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience in benefits administration, employee evaluation processes, training and development, and conflict management is highly desirable
  • Associate degree is required

Pay: USD 18.00 - 20.00 per hour
