This contract role as a Human Resources Coordinator is based onsite in Passaic, New Jersey, supporting St. Mary’s General Hospital. The position focuses on onboarding, background checks, drug screening, and I9/E-Verify, while handling HR inquiries, status changes, and maintenance of licensure and personnel records.

St. Mary’s General Hospital is a community based tertiary medical center in Passaic, NJ. The facility delivers acute care with cardiovascular services and a comprehensive cancer program, and hosts maternal‑child health services alongside outpatient behavioral health programs. The organization employs over 1,000 staff and more than 550 physicians.
Responsibilities
- Manage new hire documentation, background investigations, coordination of drug screenings, and completion of I-9 with E-Verify.
- Process status changes, termination paperwork, promotions, and other HR updates, securing all required approvals prior to HRIS entry.
- Maintain licensure and certification records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory standards.
- Administer performance evaluations and keep personnel records current.
- Support hospital recognition programs and respond to general HR questions from employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or six years of related experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior experience in Human Resources is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Pay Transparency
Salary range for this role is $19.00 - $25.00 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hire based on factors such as skill set, relevant experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
