This full-time, on-site Human Resources Generalist position in Portage, WI combines HR Manager responsibilities with generalist duties.

Lead full cycle recruiting: post openings, screen applicants, coordinate and conduct interviews, perform background and reference checks, extend offers, and complete onboarding tasks.
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Coordinate employee training programs as needed.
Administer benefits programs, including insurance options.
Maintain accurate employee records, including personnel files and payroll data.
Implement performance management processes to evaluate performance and provide feedback for improvement.
Conduct exit interviews to collect feedback and identify areas for improvement.
Monitor and stay current on labor laws and regulations to keep HR practices compliant.
Prepare HR reports such as ACA filings, internal staffing reports, insurance census data, and EEOC reports.
Issue COBRA notices for former employees and those who are laid off.
Maintain compliance with daycare licensing, Head Start, and AmeriCorps regulations.
Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers compensation, and unemployment processes.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or substantial HR experience.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
