Job Description

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections is seeking a Human Resource Assistant 1 to deliver essential HR administrative support for SCI Somerset and SCI Laurel Highlands, based at SCI Somerset in Somerset County. This role serves as a key part of the Field Human Resource Office Region 4, handling tasks from FMLA coordination to personnel file oversight within SAP.

Responsibilities

Coordinate FMLA by submitting requests, routing documentation, and applying policy knowledge to answer questions and ensure proper leave entries in SAP.
Arrange modified duty assignments for employees as needed.
Handle labor relations tasks such as receiving and logging grievances, preparing files, tracking information requests, and drafting responses for review.
Maintain position description tracking for accuracy, guide on using the OLPD, and recommend updates as needed.
Manage personnel files by maintaining OPFs and e-OPFs, uploading required documents, and verifying and certifying records in SAP.

Technologies

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework may be available part-time, up to one day per week after a six-month probationary period, provided you have a secure high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If telework is not possible, you will report to the Somerset headquarters. Telework availability is subject to change.
Salary: USD 40,685 - 60,714 per year. In some cases, starting salary may be non-negotiable.
