Job Description

GTSC is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations at its Chantilly, Virginia headquarters office.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative and operational support to members of the Human Resources department on a daily basis.
Monitor HR inboxes; respond to routine employee questions or route requests to the appropriate HR team member.
Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including coordination of required documentation, systems activities, and employee communications.
Process routine employee transactions and data changes in HR systems, including new hires, terminations, status changes, promotions, and other personnel updates.
Assist with employment verifications and other routine employee documentation requests.
Support I-9 verification and E-Verify processing and maintain related records.
Prepare routine HR correspondence, forms, letters, and employee communications using established templates and guidance.
Maintain accurate electronic personnel records and file HR documentation in the appropriate systems and repositories.
Support benefits invoice reconciliation by reviewing employee eligibility and coverage details and helping identify and resolve discrepancies.
Track completion of required corporate, compliance, and employee training.
Assist with tracking performance review activities and other recurring HR processes.
Maintain HR trackers, spreadsheets, reports, calendars, and other tools used to manage departmental activities and deadlines.
Assist with HR compliance audits, document reviews, and records maintenance under the direction of HR staff.
Support preparation and distribution of HR announcements, presentations, newsletters, employee resources, and other internal communications.
Support HR projects by gathering information, organizing materials, tracking action items, scheduling activities, and following up with stakeholders.
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, company, and proprietary information.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field (highly preferred).
1–2 years of professional experience; prior HR, administrative, communications, internship, or office experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, professional employee communications without error.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and follow-up items.
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to learn new systems, processes, and HR concepts quickly.
Good judgment, including knowing when to escalate questions or issues to another HR team member.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Comfort communicating with employees, managers, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, SharePoint, or similar business systems is preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative HR team.

Job Description

Fibercom LLC is hiring a Human Resources Operations Lead for an on-site, full-time role in Chantilly, VA. This position leads the day-to-day HR function and partners closely with executive leadership and the Strategic HR Advisor to keep HR operations running smoothly while supporting organizational growth. You’ll also coordinate key people processes across employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, recruiting, onboarding, and HR team development.

What you’ll do

Lead daily HR operations and supervise the HR team.
Manage employee relations, including investigations, coaching, and support for performance-related matters.
Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, HR policies, and I-9 requirements.
Oversee payroll coordination, HRIS usage, benefits administration, and maintenance of personnel records.
Support recruiting activities, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning.
Develop and improve HR operations through process development, reporting, metrics, and operational enhancements.
Partner with leadership to implement HR initiatives and support organizational growth.

What you bring

5+ years of progressive HR experience.
Strong experience across employee relations, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, and payroll support.
Experience leading or mentoring HR staff.
Knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
Spanish language ability (required).
Ability to commute to Chantilly, VA 20151 (required).

Nice-to-haves

Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
SHRM-CP, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certification.
Multi-state HR experience.
Experience in telecommunications, construction, infrastructure, or field services.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
