Compensation and Location
Salary: USD 70,000 - 85,000 per year. Location: Portage, Michigan (onsite). Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the HR Manager to interpret and implement the organization’s people strategy.
- Provide guidance to leadership and team members on complex, specialized, and sensitive issues as they arise.
- Coordinate confidential matters such as accommodations with benefits, investigate allegations of misconduct, and manage separations.
- Evaluate and support coaching or performance improvement discussions, separations, and investigations in partnership with the HR Manager.
- Stay current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new HR technologies related to HR, talent management, and employment law.
- Work with community managers to ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Advise on employer policies within the team member handbook.
- Maintain employee files in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate regularly in person with Community Teams at their locations.
- Engage with employees and leaders across the organization to foster a collaborative environment.
- Develop a broad understanding of company operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Previous experience in Human Resources required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Previous experience with Employee Relations is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in property management is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
- Strong cognitive reasoning abilities.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to perform job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines.

- Willingness to travel to various locations via private or public transportation.
