Job Description

Join a collaborative healthcare team that prioritizes people, growth, and a strong culture. This on-site HR Generalist role serves as the primary HR partner for three Ambulatory Surgery Centers, delivering day-to-day support to leaders and teammates while ensuring alignment with organizational policies and strategic people initiatives. You will be the face of HR within the centers, partnering with facility leadership on employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, compliance, and leave administration. Based in Shawnee, Kansas, the role offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to strengthen retention and workforce culture.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned ASC leaders and teammates.
Build strong relationships with facility leadership teams and provide guidance on people-related matters.
Partner with leaders to identify workforce needs and develop proactive solutions.
Support organizational initiatives, change management efforts, and culture-building activities.
Provide guidance and coaching to managers regarding employee performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace concerns.
Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
Partner with leadership and the Head of HR to address complex employee relations issues.
Assist with corrective action documentation and performance improvement plans.
Promote a positive employee experience through timely and professional support.
Support recruiting activities for assigned facilities, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and hiring processes.
Partner with hiring managers to ensure effective recruitment and onboarding strategies.
Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
Ensure all pre-employment requirements are completed in accordance with organizational standards in partnership with the HR Representative.
Serve as a resource for teammates regarding leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, and other protected leaves.
Partner with HR Representative and the Head of HR to ensure proper leave administration.
Assist teammates with benefits-related questions and enrollment support.
Educate managers regarding leave-related responsibilities and compliance requirements.
Support annual performance review processes and talent management initiatives.
Coach managers on performance management best practices.
Assist with succession planning and employee development efforts.
Identify training opportunities that support teammate growth and organizational objectives.
Ensure compliance with employment laws, organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company standards.
Assist with policy implementation and employee communications.
Support audits, reporting, and compliance-related activities.
Monitor trends and provide recommendations to improve HR processes and employee experience.
Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture-building activities.
Facilitate communication between leadership and teammates.
Participate in employee meetings and facility leadership meetings as appropriate.
Assist in developing and implementing programs that enhance retention and engagement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
Experience handling employee relations investigations required.

Job Description

Standard Motor Products is seeking a dual-role Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist and Human Resources Generalist to oversee safety, environmental compliance, and HR support across our distribution operations in Shawnee, Kansas. This position blends EHS leadership with HR responsibilities to maintain a safe, compliant facility while supporting people operations in a dynamic logistics environment.

Responsibilities

Evaluate hazards within the facility for safety, health, and environmental risks and recommend improvements.
Review and enhance health and safety procedures and programs across all departments, developing new ones where needed.
Lead the facility Safety Team and drive emergency response initiatives, including CPR and first aid training for staff.
Manage accident and injury investigations, environmental incident investigations, and recommend appropriate action.
Administer the Workers’ Compensation program and maintain EHS files, environment permits, accidents and training records, and regulatory logs.
Maintain contingency plans, including fire prevention and procedures for controlling hazardous spills, in line with government regulations and insurance requirements.
Train employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations and develop inspection policies with regular schedules.
Perform other departmental duties as assigned and assist HR needs such as payroll, recruitment, benefits, and employee engagement as needed.
Process weekly and monthly Safety, Operations, and HR metric reports.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or a related discipline (preferred).
Minimum of three years at a distribution or manufacturing site with 200+ employees in an EHS leadership role.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements and ability to interact with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Understanding of workers’ compensation and liability insurance claims.
Experience conducting safety audits, job safety analyses, accident investigations, data analysis, and managing OSHA 300 logs.
Experience with programs including hazardous and non-hazardous waste, chemical management, hazard communication, and forklift safety.
Experience developing, organizing, and conducting presentations and training programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with HR and payroll systems.
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal abilities; capable of functioning with independence and initiative.
