Compensation
The estimated salary range for this position is $84,000.00 to $105,000.00 USD annualized.
Position Overview
Provide guidance to assigned business units on Human Resources functions including recruiting, employee relations, talent management, training, and benefits. Act as a liaison for employees and help support key management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent company culture, values, and Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) activities across the organization, including active participation in anti-racism learning and advocacy for equity, employee health, and wellbeing.
- Administer and communicate HR programs, policies, and procedures for the assigned business unit, providing knowledgeable and timely responses to employee questions.
- Build a trusting environment that supports a safe and neutral setting for employees to engage with HR. Meet employees in person regularly where they work, and provide guidance to Business Unit (BU) leadership on people-related needs and concerns.
- Contribute ideas that support continuous improvement in overall HR team effectiveness, applying basic lean concepts and practices to improve efficiency, enhance programs, coordinate work, and reduce waste (for example, Personal Kanban, A3 problem solving, and Story Boarding).
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Proactively manage sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding of interns, college candidates, and experienced hires.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with external agencies to support candidate referrals.
- Create and maintain candidate pipelines for potential future hiring needs.
- Reinforce training and understanding of EEO and harassment policies with the BU recruiting team.
- Review diversity goals and provide feedback on areas that may need attention to meet those goals.
- Coordinate college and career fair activities, interview candidates, and review recommendation summaries to support offer decisions.
- Extend offers for employment.
- Serve as the primary candidate contact, coordinate the employee onboarding program, and conduct new hire orientation and other HR-related training.
- Liaise with employment agencies and internal hiring managers to support operational needs.
- Organize and implement the internship program and act as the escalation point of contact for interns.
- Maintain accurate and timely applicant tracking data, including job requisitions, posting content, interview schedules, and end-to-end hiring process management.
- Promote the Employee Referral Program.
- Provide information to support the HR/Operations team with strategic staffing and the Availability & Needs Report for project assignments and internal mobility decisions.
Employee Mobility, Relocations, and Offers
- Serve as the first point of contact for BU relocations and transfers, initiating vendor estimates, arranging temporary housing, connecting with community resources, and completing related activities.
- Advise hiring managers on executing offers and facilitate support for new hire offer and onboarding processes to help acclimate new hires to the business unit.
Immigration and Employee Relations Support
- Manage immigration and work authorization-related processes (for example, visas and permanent resident applications) for employees with guidance from the HR Manager.
- Support activities related to employee discipline, involuntary terminations, performance improvement plans, employee claims, investigations, and employee relations counseling under guidance of HR management.
Performance and Development
- Manage and facilitate performance and development program processes, including training and support for managers.
- Assist with succession planning and prepare materials for succession discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Human Resources or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional in Human Resources (HRCI PHR) or Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM CP), preferred.
- Construction or construction-related industry experience, or experience in a large organization (10,000+ employees), preferred.
- Knowledge of HR policies, operations, and processes.
- High degree of integrity, ability to maintain confidential information, and use discretion.
- Professional verbal and written business communication skills.
- Effective active listening skills and follow-up practices.
- Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Understanding of continuous improvement methods and tools.
- Solid problem solving and analytical capabilities, familiar with basic lean culture and concepts.
- Approachable and able to effectively interact with all employee levels and management.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and collaborate with others.
- Comfort with change and a quick learner for process and technology enhancements.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications with advanced MS Excel skills, skill in database software, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) (SAP preferred), and other HR-related applications.
- Some travel required.
