Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for staff inquiries on policies, benefits, payroll, and scheduling
Coordinate recruiting logistics, including job postings, screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications
Lead the new hire onboarding process, handling I-9 and tax forms, benefits enrollment, ServSafe verification, and orientation
Maintain confidential employee records and HRIS data; assist with compliance audits
Process status changes, transfers, promotions, and offboarding documentation
Support payroll, benefits administration, and leave-of-absence processes
Track certifications and training; assist with investigations and employee relations matters
Generate HR metrics and represent HHG at recruiting events

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of recruiting or HR management experience
Bachelor's degree is required
Working knowledge of Massachusetts and federal employment law
Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, ATS platforms, and Microsoft Office 365
Willingness to travel between Boston-area HHG restaurants

Job Description

The HRIS Specialist role at Boston Public Schools supports employees by handling Tier 2 HRIS inquiries in PeopleSoft and related processes, prioritizing accurate documentation and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

Process requests for salary lane changes, step increases, career awards, terminations, and time accrual reconciliations within PeopleSoft's Employee Information Services.
Evaluate and enter requests for internal and external service step adjustments.
Handle tuition reimbursement requests in a timely manner.
Support position management adjustments as needed.
Update Benefits Service Dates, BPS history, and seniority records.
Modify employee class information when required.
Deliver customer satisfaction by resolving inquiries promptly; route high priority requests to the supervisor as necessary.
Inform callers about HR policies and procedures with supervisor assistance when appropriate.
Research questions or concerns, escalate to appropriate personnel, and promote ongoing use of online HR services.

Requirements

Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time clerical or administrative work with substantial customer service and/or computer experience in an office setting.
