Job Description

Mayville Engineering Co Inc is hiring a Human Resources Generalist Senior to provide day-to-day HR support across functional areas for managers and employees. This role offers variety and ownership, with responsibility spanning employee relations, recruiting, performance management coaching, compensation and benefits issue resolution, and continuous improvement of HR processes, all while maintaining regulatory compliance.

This is an onsite position in Bedford, PA. You’ll serve as a primary HR resource, proactively addressing employee concerns and contributing to prevention-focused outcomes through analysis, recommendations, and communication.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary resource for managers and employees across one or more functional areas, including developing reports and analyses as needed and recommending actions to HR and stakeholders.
Provide proactive resolution of employee concerns and support future problem prevention.
Develop and deliver written communications and presentations to communicate HR concepts, and conduct training.
Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies, including full-cycle recruiting: job postings, candidate sourcing, resume screening, interviewing, and extending offers for hourly, salaried exempt, and non-exempt roles at designated locations.
Coach employees and managers on goals and objectives, support performance management processes, and may lead calibrations.
Partner with managers and the Compensation team to help ensure total compensation remains competitive and to identify, facilitate, and resolve compensation and benefits issues quickly.
Develop, document, and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for HR processes, procedures, or programs to deliver innovative solutions to business needs.
Support centralized processes such as FMLA/LOA and Workers’ Compensation, providing feedback when issues arise along with solution approaches.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations relevant to HR responsibilities.
Mentor other HR Generalists by answering questions, coaching, and guiding day-to-day activities.
Lead HR projects of varying size and scope, potentially across locations.
Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

Some experience developing principles and practices of HR functions and/or a specific HR function.
Very strong organization and time management with project management skills to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects, including the ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with diverse groups of employees.
Demonstrated skills in employee relations, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Some experience leading HR projects.
Exhibits sound judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
Proven ability to work independently and apply fact-based decision making.
Strong computer skills.

Experience & Education

Minimum experience: 5 years in a related professional, progressive HR role (manufacturing preferred).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, business, or equivalent education and experience.

MDpanel is scaling its people operations across 24+ states and Canada, and the People Operations Generalist plays a central role in keeping employee-related processes consistent, compliant, and well-documented. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, this onsite California position combines employee relations intake, leave administration, multi-state compliance, and HRIS-driven workflow improvements to support everyday operational needs as the organization grows.

What you’ll do

Act as the first point of intake for employee relations matters, completing initial assessments and routine investigations, maintaining thorough documentation, and partnering with the Director on complex or high-risk cases.
Provide managers day-to-day guidance on performance conversations, attendance, accommodations, and policy application, escalating complex or high-risk matters as needed.
Administer leaves of absence end-to-end across all states of operation, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and state paid leave programs, coordinating with payroll and benefits vendors.
Own the interactive process for workplace accommodations, ensuring compliant documentation throughout.
Manage the multi-state compliance calendar, including required postings, state registrations, new-hire reporting, wage and hour requirements, and annual filings such as EEO-1 and California pay data reporting.
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes across all states of operation, with particular depth in California, and translate updates into policy and process revisions.
Maintain audit-ready records, including I-9 compliance and personnel file standards.
Own onboarding and offboarding execution, supporting a consistent, compliant, and high-quality employee experience.
Serve as backup to the payroll administrator.
Ensure HRIS data integrity and reporting built on it, including headcount, turnover, and compliance metrics.
Operate, test, and maintain automated people workflows across the HRIS and adjacent tools, supporting the Director on new builds and identifying manual processes for future automation.
Maintain the employee handbook and policy library, partnering with the Director on updates and rollouts.

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
At least 4 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including direct ownership of employee relations intake and leave administration.
Demonstrated multi-state HR experience with strong working knowledge of California employment law, including wage and hour, protected leaves, and accommodation requirements.
Experience administering HRIS platforms and building reporting from them, comfortable working within configured workflows, rules, and integrations, and able to learn new systems quickly.
Evidence of improving a manual or repetitive process through better systems use, independently or in support of a system owner.
Proven ability to handle highly sensitive matters with discretion, sound judgment, and complete documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust with employees, managers, and leadership.
Highly organized approach and ability to manage concurrent deadlines across compliance, leave, and employee relations workstreams.
