Job Description
Detail-oriented and analytical HR professional at Dixon Correctional Institute, onsite in Jackson, Louisiana, responsible for delivering accurate HR data, refining workforce processes, and ensuring compliance with state policies within a correctional facility.
Responsibilities
- Handle the full range of personnel and payroll transactions to support appointments, merit increases, promotions, transfers, separations, and other employment actions, ensuring all activities comply with Civil Service rules, agency policies, and payroll deadlines.
- Perform calculations related to routine pay changes and conduct service time computations as needed; review and verify employee data and supporting documentation, identifying and correcting discrepancies before submission.
- Provide employees with clear explanations of available benefit programs and assist them in understanding enrollment options; review benefits-related documents for accuracy and completeness and route finalized forms to the appropriate offices for processing.
Requirements
- Three years of human resources experience; or six years of full-time experience in any field; or a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university counts as one year of experience toward the six years of general work experience in any field. The maximum substitution is 120 semester hours, substituting for up to four years of experience.

- A job appointment is temporary and lasts up to four years; if a permanent position becomes available, conversion to a probational appointment may occur.
- The position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non-temporary role is available during the recruitment process.
- If filled by probation, a permanent classified Louisiana State employee may be required to accept a probational appointment upon selection.
