Job Description

Chesterfield County is seeking an HR Analyst to support the Fire and EMS division in Chesterfield, Virginia, onsite. This role operates within a fast-paced public-sector HR environment, emphasizing policy administration, employee relations, recruitment, retirement processes, and data-driven staff development for a large public-safety workforce. Cross-training across the HR Division is emphasized to broaden coverage and impact.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 56,107 - 75,744 per year

Chesterfield, VA (onsite)

Responsibilities

  • Supports the rollout and ongoing execution of major HR processes, programs, and functions.
  • Advises on hiring and retirement procedures.
  • Offers guidance and support to department leadership on HR-related topics.
  • Gathers, analyzes and summarizes data for decisions, reporting, and special projects, and makes recommendations.
  • Interprets and communicates HR policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Supports policy development and updates as assigned.
  • Designs and delivers training curricula on HR topics and conducts staff training as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of HR administration principles and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate options and provide sound recommendations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive personnel matters and confidential situations.
  • Able to guide on applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures for assigned HR functions.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and PC operation.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Minimum 2 years of related HR experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
