Job Description

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. offers a hybrid role in Manhattan for an HR professional who wants to connect HR strategy to day-to-day outcomes. In this position, you will help employees and program leaders navigate performance, employee relations, hiring initiatives, and HR policy guidance while staying aligned to organizational priorities.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week), scheduled Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm with hybrid work (3 days a week in office).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees in assigned client groups for current and anticipated organizational needs, general HR questions, performance management, employee relations issues, and hiring initiatives.
  • Lead HR activities for assigned client groups across areas such as HRIS, compensation, benefits, and payroll.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the relevant Programs/Clusters.
  • Partner with Program management to provide HR guidance when needed.
  • Analyze trends and HR metrics to support solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Research, develop, and respond to employee and manager questions related to HR policies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of legal requirements for day-to-day employee management, reducing legal risk and supporting regulatory compliance, in collaboration with labor relations and outside counsel as required.
  • Provide day-to-day performance guidance to Program leadership including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Work with Program leadership and employees to strengthen work relationships, build morale, and improve productivity and retention.
  • Handle complex employee relations matters and provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Support Program or department restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Identify training needs for Programs and individual executive coaching needs, participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs, and follow up to confirm training objectives are met.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies relevant to employee management.
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and related administrative practices.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Minimum 8 years of HR business partner experience.
  • Working knowledge across multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential helpful.

Salary: USD 90,000 - 100,000 per year.

Location: Manhattan, NY (hybrid).

Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm.
