Job Description
The City of Wausau is hiring a Human Resources Director to provide strategic HR leadership and oversee the HR function for a workforce of 375+ employees.
Responsibilities
- Lead employee and labor relations, including collective bargaining
- Oversee classification, compensation, and employee benefits programs
- Manage recruitment, retention, and workforce planning efforts
- Direct performance management and support organizational development
- Develop HR policies and ensure legal compliance
- Coordinate risk management, safety, and workers’ compensation oversight
- Support training and leadership development
- Own HR systems, standard processes, and continuous improvement
- Report to the Mayor and lead a three-person HR team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive HR administration experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
