Overview

Location: American Samoa onsite. Salary: USD 77,351 - 119,883 per year. This federal role supports the Workers' Compensation program within FAA HR Management (AHB) and provides expert guidance for DOT workers' compensation services. Responsibilities

  • Operate as a workers' compensation program specialist handling complex case management and program management tasks.
  • Complete diverse, intricate assignments with minimal supervision from a manager or senior staff.
  • Apply broad knowledge of the discipline to plan and execute activities for projects and programs.
  • Collaborate across functional and organizational lines to accomplish assignments.
  • Typical duties include independent review of national program issues, advising senior staff on policies and procedures, full case management of OWCP claims, and providing guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • The division oversees all DOT-wide workers' compensation claims and offers expert guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Plan time independently and organize available resources to meet project goals, making efficient use of assets within established schedules.
  • Ensure program management aligns with government regulations and targets across DOL, DOT, FAA, and AHR.
  • Policies guide most assignments, while there is discretion to select or develop the most appropriate approaches.
  • Assignments often require interpreting internal and external policies and drawing on precedents.
  • Resolve most problems without direct supervision, using independent judgment.
  • Develop and propose approaches to address current and anticipated issues.
  • Work is typically reviewed via status updates and at project completion to ensure policy compliance and alignment with requirements.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-H, FG/GS-12 level.
  • Experience in the effective management of federal workers' compensation claims.
  • Experience and applied knowledge of federal workers' compensation regulations and procedures.
