Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist at SHALOM AUSTIN provides payroll processing, benefits administration, internship program coordination, and broad HR support to advance the organization’s goals while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Location

Austin, Texas, hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll using Paylocity, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution.
  • Collaborate with the Senior HR Director, Chief Experience Officer (CXO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the company 403(b) retirement plan, including enrollments, contributions, and compliance with plan requirements.
  • Administer health, dental, and vision benefits, ensuring accuracy in elections and deductions.
  • Manage open enrollment periods, providing employees with necessary information.
  • Address benefit related inquiries from employees with assistance from the Senior HR Director when needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internship applicants, school officials, and the internal Shalom Austin team.
  • Coordinate the internship schedule to ensure smooth operation of the program.
  • Assist the Senior HR Director with reviewing internship applicants and selecting interns.
  • Ensure interns are onboarded properly, tracked through the program, and receive mentorship and feedback.
  • Complete evaluations for interns every nine weeks as provided by Practicum Teacher.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, including preparation of new hire documentation and orientation.
  • Administer employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • Support performance management processes, including tracking reviews, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and maintain compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries about benefits, policies, and procedures with timely, accurate information.
  • Serve as a primary contact for workers' compensation and employee injuries, addressing questions and completing documentation for the insurance provider.
  • Monitor and manage the HR inbox, ensuring prompt and professional responses to inquiries.
  • Assist in organizing HR related events, including meetings, staff celebrations, and team building activities.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Experience Manager to plan, prepare, and order service awards for staff meetings and recognition events.
  • Generate monthly reports from Financial Edge, reconcile the HR budget, and review discrepancies with the Senior HR Director.
  • Oversee and maintain the HR supply closet, conducting regular inventory checks for items such as service pins and recognition materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in preparing HR reports and data analysis as required.
  • Conduct audits related to payroll, benefits, and other HR processes.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for audits related to 403(b), workers' compensation, and other areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in HR.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Compensation

Annual salary: $50,000 to $55,000.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency in Paylocity preferred
  • APHR or PHR Certification

Combination of remote and in-office.
