Job Description
Biddeford Schools Department presents a benefits-forward senior HR leadership opportunity onsite in Biddeford, Maine. You will oversee HR operations across the Biddeford and Dayton School Departments and the Southern Maine Administrative Collaborative, shaping policy, ensuring compliance, steering recruitment and onboarding, directing benefits programs, and managing risk. This role emphasizes strategic partnership with administration and staff to build a high-performing, compliant district HR function. Compensation ranges from USD 85,000 to 95,000 per year, with a comprehensive benefits package and a collaborative, community-minded culture.

Location: Onsite in Biddeford, ME
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate HR policies, programs, and activities
- Lead recruitment, selection, and orientation processes
- Create short and long-range HR planning strategies
- Serve as Affirmative Action Officer and Title IX Coordinator
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Manage all leave of absences, including FMLA, ADA, and PFML
- Oversee comprehensive benefits administration (health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, COBRA)
- Manage MainePERS and 403b/457 plans
- Manage Workers' Compensation and Risk Management programs
- Lead the district Safety Committee
- Represent the district at hearings and legal proceedings as needed
- Manage Information Systems for employee data
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, including at least 5 years in a management role
- Degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
- Professional HR certification; SPHR or SHRM-SCP is highly valued, with school experience preferred
- Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) with fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
