Job Description

The Florida Department of Health is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to join the Recruitment team within the Office of Human Resource Management. This on-site role in Tallahassee supports hiring managers and applicants through every step of the recruitment and selection process, ensuring compliance and timely decisions. The position offers a salary range of USD 45,060 to 52,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Assist hiring managers with recruitment activities, including advertisements, qualifying questions, applicant reviews, and offer letters.
Provide guidance on Veterans’ Preference and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
Process background screenings, fingerprinting, and drug test results; update personnel systems accordingly.
Review recruitment packages for completeness and compliance with department standards.
Deliver training related to recruitment procedures and provide ongoing support to supervisors.
Prepare reports, gather data, and assist with special projects requiring HR expertise.
Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.

Requirements

Knowledge of Microsoft applications software
Knowledge of the State of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statutes
Knowledge of the People First system
Ability to interpret, apply and communicate applicable human resource management statutes, rules, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis
Knowledge of one or more personnel program functions such as classification and pay, insurance and benefits, recruitment and selection, labor relations, employee/employer relations or training
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
Ability to utilize a computer
Ability to coordinate work assignments, as well as projects and activities, with strong attention to detail
Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to human resource management program functions
Ability to prepare reports relating to human resource management program functions
At least one year of experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity
