Job Description
The Florida Department of Health is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to join the Recruitment team within the Office of Human Resource Management. This on-site role in Tallahassee supports hiring managers and applicants through every step of the recruitment and selection process, ensuring compliance and timely decisions. The position offers a salary range of USD 45,060 to 52,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Assist hiring managers with recruitment activities, including advertisements, qualifying questions, applicant reviews, and offer letters.
- Provide guidance on Veterans’ Preference and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
- Process background screenings, fingerprinting, and drug test results; update personnel systems accordingly.
- Review recruitment packages for completeness and compliance with department standards.
- Deliver training related to recruitment procedures and provide ongoing support to supervisors.
- Prepare reports, gather data, and assist with special projects requiring HR expertise.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications software
- Knowledge of the State of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statutes
- Knowledge of the People First system
- Ability to interpret, apply and communicate applicable human resource management statutes, rules, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis
- Knowledge of one or more personnel program functions such as classification and pay, insurance and benefits, recruitment and selection, labor relations, employee/employer relations or training
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
- Ability to utilize a computer
- Ability to coordinate work assignments, as well as projects and activities, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to human resource management program functions
- Ability to prepare reports relating to human resource management program functions
- At least one year of experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity
