Human Resource Consultant 4 - EEO/HR Investigator
Job Description
The Washington State Patrol’s Human Resource Division is seeking a senior-level Human Resource Consultant to serve as an EEO/HR Investigator. In this onsite Olympia role, you will independently lead highly sensitive, trauma-informed workplace investigations and provide strategic HR consultation to support a respectful, legally compliant work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Independently conduct complex, trauma-informed investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, and other protected class concerns.
- Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; collect and evaluate evidence; assess credibility; and apply relevant federal and state laws, agency policy, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports that document findings of fact and include recommendations supported by the evidence for agency leadership.
- Advise executives, managers, and HR staff on employee relations, performance management, workplace conflict, accommodations, and other complex employment matters.
- Partner with leadership to help resolve challenging employee issues while balancing organizational needs, legal requirements, and employee rights.
- Provide consultation throughout the complaint resolution and accommodation processes.
- Interpret and apply federal and state employment laws, civil service rules, collective bargaining agreements, and agency policy.
- Evaluate reasonable accommodation requests and essential job functions to support consistent, legally compliant decision-making.
- Maintain confidential investigative records and prepare documentation for agency leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and deliver training on respectful workplaces, harassment prevention, reasonable accommodations, investigations, and HR compliance.
- Recommend process improvements and best practices that strengthen workplace culture, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Social Sciences, or a closely related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
- Three years of professional-level HR experience, including conducting workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or misconduct.

Compensation and benefits
Salary: USD 76,608 to 102,996 per year.
