Job Description

The Human Resources Director provides day-to-day HR leadership for Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts in Fort Worth, TX. The role supports hiring, compensation and benefits administration, compliance reporting, and employee relations, while overseeing records, training compliance, and investigations. This position is onsite and reports to the President/CEO.

Role Overview

In this position, you will develop and maintain HR strategies aligned with the organization’s business priorities. The role includes talent acquisition oversight, policy and procedure training, documentation and compliance tracking, and guidance for management and senior leaders on employee discipline and grievance matters. You will also manage Workers’ Compensation Insurance operations and support sensitive situations such as reasonable accommodations, allegation investigations, and terminations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, support, and review HR strategies and initiatives aligned with overall business strategy.
  • Provide training and oversight on HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage the end-to-end talent acquisition process, including generating and updating job descriptions, posting job advertisements, recruiting (open requisitions and ongoing substitutes recruitment), interviewing, hiring qualified applicants, and onboarding new hires and substitutes.
  • Develop and evaluate current onboarding plans with strategic onboarding skills.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, which may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and teaching certifications.
  • Participate in performance evaluation processes.
  • Support management and senior leaders with employee disciplinary actions and grievance issues, including administering routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as reasonable accommodations, investigations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Maintain employee records and related documentation, including organizational charts, annual teaching contracts, and intent to return forms.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with school policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including recommended best practices.
  • Stay current on HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Prepare and review compensation and benefits packages and analyze pay scale to ensure compliance with wage and labor laws.
  • Process employee questions and respond in a timely manner.
  • Partner with employees and management to resolve issues, identify root causes, and recommend and/or implement solutions.
  • Mentor and advise managers and other senior leaders on policy, procedures, attendance, dispute resolution, work performance, and other employment matters.
  • Lead investigations and complaint resolutions, ensuring objective and thorough written findings and recommendations.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation Insurance activities, including claims, audit, and renewals.
  • Serve as a backup to payroll processing, employee benefits, and 403(b) administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; 2+ years of work experience as an HR Director or HR Generalist preferred.
  • BSc/MSc in Human Resources or a relevant field preferred.
  • Experience with Title IX compliance preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to maintain employee confidentiality and work under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of labor legislation and strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to carry 25-50 lbs.
  • Valid driver license.

Bachelor’s degree (BSc/MSc in Human Resources or relevant field preferred).
