Job Description

The HR Manager aligns HR objectives with Presrite's business goals across the Bessemer and Tech facilities in Cleveland and Eastlake, Ohio, reporting to the Human Resources Director with a dotted line to Plant Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to managers and staff on interpreting and applying HR initiatives, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Develop and administer HR programs and procedures for all personnel.
  • Recommend new policies and procedures to drive ongoing department improvements.
  • Review performance evaluations and salary change recommendations to maintain consistency and internal pay equity.
  • Administer benefit programs, including Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, health and welfare plans, plus company activities and recognition events.
  • Counsel on benefits and leave programs.
  • Lead or participate in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Lead or conduct onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Lead or conduct exit interviews.
  • Keep job descriptions current in collaboration with managers.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the employee handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of HRIS data and personnel records.
  • Participate in management staff meetings.
  • Develop and maintain government reports such as applicant logs and EEO-1 filings as required by law.
  • Partner with corporate HR to update compensation data.
  • Administer merit reviews, incentive programs, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Counsel managers on the use of performance management tools, corrective action plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with management to continuously improve plant employee relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HR Certification (SHRM or PHR/SPHR).
  • Minimum five years of hands-on HR experience in a manufacturing setting; prior HR Manager experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction at all levels and with external contacts.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong HRIS knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working on the plant floor as well as in the office.
  • Ability to handle confidential data related to company plans, programs, and sensitive employee information.
