Human Resources Manager
Job Description
Mid-level HR Manager responsible for establishing and overseeing regional HR operations across Owatonna, MN and Mason City, IA, serving as the on-site contact for employee relations, managing payroll, and partnering with executive leadership to implement compliant policies.
Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day HR support to employees, supervisors, and local leadership.
- Fosters a positive, inclusive, and harassment-free work environment across multi-site staff.
- Oversees the site payroll function to ensure accurate, regulatory-compliant compensation.
- Supports administration of existing employee benefit programs, including enrollment, employee communications, vendor coordination, and payroll-related updates.
- Guides local leadership on employee relations, coaching, corrective action, attendance, and performance management.
- Standardizes and maintains all physical and digital employee records and files.
- Manages full-cycle talent acquisition, including workforce planning, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and employee documentation.
- Coordinates workers’ compensation, injury follow-up, and return-to-work matters.
- Ensures strict compliance with local, Minnesota, Iowa, and federal employment regulations.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of professional human resources management experience.
- Strong working knowledge of employee relations, payroll coordination, benefits administration, wage and hour practices, leave administration, and HR recordkeeping.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience administering payroll systems, handling complex employee relations investigations, and implementing state-specific compliance.
- Ability to work regular business hours at the primary Owatonna, MN facility, with occasional regional travel required to support the Mason City, IA location.
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 50,000 - 60,000 per year.
