Job Summary
As a member of the property's HR support team, you will partner with HR colleagues to manage daily HR office activities, including recruitment, total compensation, and training and development. The role emphasizes delivering HR services that meet employee needs and drive business success, while maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, and operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in interviewing and hiring HR team members with appropriate skills as needed.
- Establish and maintain connections with external recruitment sources; participate in job fairs and document outreach per SOP.
- Networking with local organizations to source candidates for current or future openings; oversee candidate identification and selection processes.
- Provide subject matter expertise to property managers regarding selection procedures.
- Collaborate with vendor partners to ensure effective advertising for open positions in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool.
- Perform quality control on candidate identification and selection.
- Coordinate with unemployment services providers to respond to claims, review reports for accuracy, and correct errors; prepare and distribute unemployment claim activity reports to property management.
- Attend unemployment hearings and ensure proper representation of the property.
- Ensure the HR department has the resources on hand to administer employee programs.
- Support departmental orientation and new hire training to enable employees to perform effectively; promote cross-training to support daily operations.
- Utilize on the job training tools, supervise ongoing training initiatives, and conduct training as appropriate.
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation to create a positive first impression and reinforce the guest service culture.
- Ensure attendance by all new hires and participation of leadership in training programs; collaborate with management to implement departmental orientation processes.
- Assist in maintaining effective employee communications through daily updates and property-wide meetings.
- Review progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, ensuring supportive documentation and determining appropriate action.
- Maintain an open door policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner, escalating to the Department Manager or HR leadership as needed.
- Partner with Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations when necessary.
- Communicate performance expectations in alignment with job descriptions for each position.
- Ensure employee files contain required employment paperwork, performance management records, and compensation documentation, and are properly maintained and secured for the required length of time, in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Keep medical records in a separate, secure, confidential medical file.
- Facilitate random, reasonable belief and post-accident drug testing where applicable.
- Communicate property rules and regulations through the employee handbook and ongoing channels.
- Ensure safety and security policies are conveyed regularly via orientation, property meetings, and notices.
- Conduct periodic claims reviews with Regional Claims to ensure timely closure and appropriate reserve levels for open claims.
- Represent Human Resources at the property Safety Committee and promote safety awareness to reduce accident frequency and severity.
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims to ensure appropriate care and cost management.
- Oversee the selection, non-selection, and offers processes to ensure proper procedures are followed and applicants receive status notifications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major, with 1 year of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
