Job Description

Eagle Mine, LLC is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to deliver HR transactional and administrative support on-site in Michigamme, MI. The role supports frontline managers with HR process execution, HRIS navigation, and manual workflows to help ensure critical positions are filled efficiently. The Specialist will also contribute to onboarding, compliance, and internal training efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring for open positions, partnering with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies needed.
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Prepare and maintain employment records for hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, and promotions using human resources management system software.
  • Support pre-employment activities and manage new employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Respond to employment-related questions from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Complete offboarding activities.
  • Produce required report preparation.
  • Provide transactional and administrative support to leaders and employees.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommended best practices by reviewing policies and practices.
  • Organize and introduce internal training.
  • Support employees with benefits and payroll-related questions and inquiries.
  • Triage HR issues and reach out to relevant team members for additional assistance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with HR processes.
  • Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communications skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels and with external customers.
  • Ability to work through frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Experience with HRIS and enterprise software.
  • Certified in Development Dimensions International (DDI) or willing to obtain DDI certification to support and facilitate training initiatives.

  • Participate in HSEC training provided.
  • Report all incidents, including injuries, near misses, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, and unsafe work practices.
