Human Resources Supervisor
Job Description
At Nunez Community College, this onsite Human Resources Supervisor role helps strengthen people operations with structured, compliant HR services in a 24-hour facility environment. You will support accurate and timely HR and payroll processing while supervising HR staff and overseeing key HR functions that impact employee relations, hiring, and benefits administration.
What you’ll do
- Direct and oversee major Human Resources programs, including employee relations, recruitment, classification and pay, position control, benefits, and daily HR operations.
- Supervise HR staff by assigning and monitoring work, evaluating performance, coaching and training, and addressing performance or disciplinary matters when needed.
- Manage a range of personnel actions including disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, recruitment and hiring, resignations, rehires, promotions, transfers, and other HR actions.
- Oversee classification and compensation responsibilities, position movements, employee benefits, FMLA, workers’ compensation, retirement, insurance, and related HR programs.
- Ensure HR and payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time by maintaining employee records, reviewing payroll reports, and providing guidance to employees and timekeepers while meeting Civil Service, departmental, institutional, and ACA requirements.
Required experience and qualifications
- Six (6) years of human resources experience; OR
- Six (6) years of full-time experience in any field plus three (3) years of human resources experience; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of human resources experience; OR
- An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two (2) years of human resources experience.
Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and apply Civil Service and departmental policies and procedures.

Position and work environment details
- Employee will work with adult male inmates of all custody levels (minimum, medium, maximum including death row, and protective custody).
- Employee will supervise lower level HR employees.
Appointment type and compensation
- Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- A selected promotion may require serving a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment; if filled temporarily, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment if a permanent position becomes available.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $29.79 per hour.
