Job Description

Zeta Charter Schools is looking for a People Operations Associate to support high-volume, detail-driven People Operations workflows while helping deliver a strong employee lifecycle experience. This hybrid role in New York, NY supports onboarding, acts as a responsive point of contact, and helps ensure People Operations policies are implemented consistently across teams.

In this position, you will coordinate onboarding steps for new hires, respond to People Operations requests through multiple channels, and partner with internal teams to keep systems running smoothly. You’ll also maintain metrics and tracking tools that help the organization monitor progress, spot gaps, and refine processes as the team evolves.

Role responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a fast-paced, goal-driven team focused on continuously improving systems for a better employee lifecycle experience.
  • Coordinate key onboarding processes for new hires, including tracking required steps, communicating deadlines, preparing materials, and supporting both virtual and in-person onboarding.
  • Serve as a responsive, customer-service-oriented point of contact for teammates, providing clear guidance and helping others navigate People Operations processes.
  • Respond to questions and requests submitted through tickets, calls, and other communication channels, using established resources and templates while requesting additional context when needed.
  • Partner with Talent, Schooling, Operations, Finance, Advisory, and school-based teams to support staff and ensure consistent People Operations policy and procedure implementation.
  • Manage partnerships with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality support aligned with organizational standards.
  • Spot opportunities to improve employee communications, resources, and processes by analyzing recurring questions and stakeholder feedback.
  • Maintain metrics and tracking tools that help the team monitor progress, identify gaps, and refine processes.
  • Work across priorities in a lean scale-up environment, supporting others and taking on new projects as needed to advance Zeta’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least 1-3 years of work experience.
  • Proven ability to manage detailed, high-volume workflows and keep multiple priorities moving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organization and a systems-minded, service-oriented approach, with dependable tracking and follow-through.
  • Experience with Workday or a similar HR information system is preferred, but not required.
  • Comfort learning and adapting to new processes and systems.
  • Candidates from outside Human Resources or People Operations are encouraged to apply with relevant experience managing high-volume, detailed work and balancing competing priorities.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: USD 66,500 - 80,000 per year.
