Job Description

This contract role provides recruiting and onboarding support for a university undergoing a Workday transition. It is a remote, six-month engagement in which the HR Partner serves as the primary resource for hiring managers, handling requisitions, postings, offers, pre-employment steps, and onboarding without full-cycle recruiting.

Location and Employment Type

Location: Seattle, WA (remote). Employment type: Contract, six months.

Compensation

Hourly rate: USD 30 - 40 per hour.

Role Overview

The Temp HR Partner will collaborate with hiring managers to manage requisitions and onboarding within Workday, oversee job postings, extend offers, and coordinate pre-employment activities. This role supports the university during its transition to Workday and emphasizes onboarding and process guidance rather than end-to-end recruiting.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to create and finalize job requisitions in Workday
  • Assess requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with university hiring standards
  • Publish employment opportunities and track postings
  • Act as the main HR liaison for hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
  • Provide guidance on procedures, timelines, and required HR documentation
  • Coordinate candidate progression through the Workday workflow
  • Draft and extend formal employment offers
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required hiring documents
  • Coordinate pre-employment activities for selected candidates
  • Initiate and track background checks and related pre-employment requirements
  • Communicate onboarding requirements, documentation, and next steps to candidates
  • Maintain precise hiring and onboarding records in Workday and other HR systems
  • Own the university's new hire experience as the primary point of contact
  • Coordinate and lead first-day orientation, campus tours, and welcome activities
  • Plan new hire engagement activities and quarterly social events to foster connection
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure new hires receive necessary resources and support
  • Continuously assess and improve onboarding processes and the overall new hire experience
  • Support the university as it transitions from Cornerstone to Workday ahead of the July 6, 2026 go-live date
  • Assist with process documentation, testing, and ongoing improvements to hiring and onboarding workflows
  • Offer guidance to hiring managers navigating new Workday processes
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, user experience, and data accuracy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting hiring, onboarding, or talent acquisition processes
  • Hands-on experience with Workday or a comparable HCM system
  • Strong organizational, project management, and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships across all levels
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Direct experience with Workday Recruiting and Onboarding modules
  • Experience in higher education or another complex organizational environment
  • Background supporting HR system implementations or transitions
  • Knowledge of employment-related compliance requirements and hiring best practices
