Job Description
The Director, Human Resources at Astound leads the employee relations strategy and programs that support a positive, fair, and legally compliant workplace culture. This role serves as a senior partner to HR leadership, business leaders, and legal counsel, guiding complex case resolution, investigations, compliance efforts, and initiatives that strengthen engagement and trust.
Role Focus
- Manage and implement the organization’s employee relations strategy, aligned to business goals and HR initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, leaders, and HR partners on sensitive and complex employee relations matters.
- Monitor workplace trends to identify risks and opportunities that improve organizational culture and employee experience.
- Oversee resolution of complex employee relations issues, including performance management, workplace conflicts, policy violations, and disciplinary actions.
- Lead internal investigations using thorough, fair, and legally compliant processes.
- Partner with HR teammates and Legal to mitigate risk, promote consistent practices, and enforce employee relations policies in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Leadership, Programs, and Enablement
- Provide training for leaders and managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management best practices.
- Track and analyze employee relations metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Drive initiatives that promote employee trust, engagement, and workplace inclusion.
- Partner with HR and leadership teams to build a culture of transparency, accountability, and respect.
- Support change management and communication strategies that impact employees.

Required Experience and Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment law, labor relations, and HR compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across the organization.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend strategic solutions.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Emotional intelligence and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to balance business needs with employee advocacy.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar) strongly preferred.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $130,000 - $175,000 per year.
- Base salary may be paired with opportunities for bonus and benefits.
- Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
