Healthcare Recruiter
Job Description
Compassionate Arms, Inc. is seeking a Healthcare Recruiter to support client care by building and maintaining a reliable caregiver workforce. In this on-site role in Sterling Heights, MI, you will manage full-cycle recruiting, screen and match candidates, and coordinate ongoing coverage so authorized hours stay staffed.
What you’ll do
- Own full-cycle recruiting for caregivers, from job posting through offer and onboarding handoff.
- Write and post openings on job boards, social media, and community channels while managing the applicant pipeline daily.
- Build referral sources through community organizations, churches, cultural centers, schools, and workforce programs, including outreach within the Chaldean and Arabic-speaking community.
- Represent Compassionate Arms at job fairs, hiring events, and community outreach activities.
- Track open needs by program, county, shift, and language so recruiting targets the agency’s actual gaps.
- Conduct phone screens and structured interviews to evaluate reliability, experience, temperament, and fit for home care.
- Verify candidates meet program requirements, including background checks, exclusion list checks, references, and driver’s license and insurance where needed, plus required training or certifications.
- Coordinate offers and start dates and handle handoff to onboarding and training.
- Maintain complete, accurate applicant and hiring records for audits by CMH agencies, health plans, and the state.
- Review each new client’s care plan, authorized hours, service type (such as CLS, personal care, respite, homemaking), and preferences.
- Match clients with caregivers using skills, schedule, location, language, culture, gender preference, and personality.
- Introduce caregivers to clients and families, and follow up after first visits to confirm the match is working.
- Find replacement or backup caregivers quickly when a match ends, a caregiver is unavailable, or a client’s needs change.
- Collaborate with care coordinators, supervisors, and scheduling staff to help keep authorized hours covered.
- At lower volume, source and screen LPN and RN candidates for skilled nursing visits and supervisory or assessment duties, including verifying active Michigan nursing licenses and relevant experience.
- Coordinate clinical interviews with nursing leadership.
- Check in with new caregivers during their first 90 days to address concerns early and reduce turnover.
- Collect feedback from exit interviews and match outcomes to improve recruiting and matching.
- Provide weekly reporting on applicants, hires, time to fill, open cases, and retention.
