The Human Resources Assistant will provide onsite support to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Dallas, handling personnel actions, onboarding, benefits information, and background investigations within the Northern District of Texas.
Responsibilities
- Process a broad range of personnel actions across multiple functional areas for assigned service areas.
- Respond to inquiries from applicants, visitors, and callers seeking employment information.
- Onboard new employees and conduct orientation on health benefits, life insurance, thrift savings, retirement, military service credit, and related deposits.
- Review, process, and resolve discrepancies in personnel actions.
- Provide information on employee benefits to staff and managers, and answer questions about entitlements.
- Prepare background investigation packages.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Citizen or National of the United States.
- Must complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check, including a drug screening.
- Possible requirement to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Selective Service registration required for males born on or after December 31, 1959; exemptions must be on file if not registered.

- Specialized Experience - GS-06: at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service. Defined as using automated systems to track work-related processes, entering data into computer systems, obtaining information from files or reference sources, and providing office automation support (creating, copying, editing, storing, retrieving documents).
- Specialized Experience - GS-07: at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service. Defined as briefing new hires on entitlements, providing customer support to internal and external customers, providing office automation support, and using office software to extract, revise, or sort information.
- Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) eligibility may provide selection priority if applicable and properly documented.
