Human Resource Specialist
Job Description
A onsite Human Resource Specialist role in San Diego, CA, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, HRIS records, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and policy development to support staff and the mission.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring decisions.
- Coordinate onboarding processes to deliver a smooth, welcoming integration for new employees.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries, guiding staff on policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records within the HRIS.
- Support employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures, with professionalism and discretion.
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with the performance management cycle, including annual reviews and goal setting.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and programs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar HR role, such as an HR Coordinator or Generalist.
- Strong understanding of core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
- Highly organized with strong time-management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using HRIS software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- High degree of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Experience working within a nonprofit or social services environment is a significant advantage.
