Job Description

A onsite Human Resource Specialist role in San Diego, CA, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, HRIS records, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and policy development to support staff and the mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring decisions.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes to deliver a smooth, welcoming integration for new employees.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries, guiding staff on policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records within the HRIS.
  • Support employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures, with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the performance management cycle, including annual reviews and goal setting.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and programs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar HR role, such as an HR Coordinator or Generalist.
  • Strong understanding of core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High degree of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience working within a nonprofit or social services environment is a significant advantage.
