Job Description
Sevita's Mentor Community Services operates on-site in Fort Wayne, Indiana, delivering community-based supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Human Resources Coordinator role focuses on recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefit communications, and HR process administration, all while bridging communications between field operations and state offices. This position emphasizes meticulous records management, accurate reporting, and collaborative teamwork to support a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities
- Support recruiting and onboarding activities for new hires, including orientation and training; verify completion of new hire documentation such as I-9 forms and required certifications.
- Monitor safety program implementation and assist in delivering best-practice guidance.
- Maintain and review employee records to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards; provide copies of records to employees upon request.
- Act as the HR liaison and primary communication channel between field teams and state offices.
- Create and manage confidential files and records, ensuring quick retrieval and appropriate inclusion of all necessary information in the personnel file.
- Execute recruitment efforts by posting ads on the company site, external sites, newspapers, and college career services; manage background check files and verify registries and licenses.
- Assist with paperwork related to job changes, salary adjustments, raises and bonuses, and leaves of absence.
- Support communications around open enrollment and respond to employee questions about compensation and benefits, directing inquiries to the Benefits Information Center as needed.
- Refer employee relations matters to the HR Business Partner and keep the supervisor informed as appropriate.
- Contribute to the performance review process as needed; adhere to HR policies and escalate questions to the supervisor when appropriate.
- Help management build databases to track events and programs and generate reports as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of related experience.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the capacity to multi-task to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to manage relationships across teams.
- Ability to handle confidential information and data with discretion.
