Human Resources Director
Job Description
The Mason Counseling Group seeks a Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions onsite in Norfolk, VA. This full-time role offers a competitive annual salary of $60,000 to $75,000, the opportunity to supervise a team of HR clerks, shape policies, recruit and onboard talent, and guide employee relations while ensuring compliance with Virginia laws. Relocation to Norfolk before your start date is required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire human resources function, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Develop policies and procedures aligned with the organization’s goals.
- Manage recruitment and hiring processes, including interviewing and onboarding new employees.
- Coordinate and facilitate employee training programs and workshops.
- Provide guidance to employees on benefits, payroll, and company policies.
- Conduct performance evaluations and develop strategies for employee growth and development.
- Handle employee relations, address concerns, and resolve conflicts.
- Coordinate vendor management in line with company policies and procedures.
- Manage office supplies and equipment, including ordering and inventory management.
- Utilize payroll and other financial functions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including employee files, attendance records, and performance evaluations.
- Supervise and mentor a team of HR clerks to ensure effective operation.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in human resources, preferably in a Social or Human Services office management environment.
- Strong knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and laws.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven recruitment and onboarding experience.
- Experience with vendor management and office management.
- Proficiency in various HR software systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (3 years required).
- Administrative experience: 5 years required.
- Location: Onsite in Norfolk, VA 23510; relocation to Norfolk before starting is required.
