Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations in a Honolulu on-site role, managing the full employment life cycle, payroll and benefits administration, policy enforcement, and HR administrative support for recruitment, hiring, and terminations, with electronic records maintained in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting job descriptions and offer letters.
- Coordinate required pre-employment screenings, including drug testing when applicable.
- Lead new hire orientation, verify the accuracy of completed forms, review policies and the employee handbook, prepare payroll paperwork and enroll benefits, liaise with IT on email and technology needs, and coordinate Base Pass requirements with Construction to set up the work area.
- Maintain HRIS and Applicant Tracking System on a daily basis.
- Oversee personnel documentation for onboarding, separations, performance reviews, and status updates.
- Handle termination processes, including benefits cancellation, COBRA enrollments and continuation notices, return of company property, and final payroll distribution.
- Keep active and inactive employee files and records in compliance with government regulations.
- Support legal compliance with federal and state employment regulations, including proper job classifications, written job descriptions, retention of employee records, and maintenance of logs required by affirmative action plans.
- Support the preparation of responses to insurance claims.
- Assist with case documentation for personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Attend and participate in disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
- Support the HR Manager and executives with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or at least five years of experience in an office environment providing HR support.
- HR certification preferred.
- Understanding of federal and state labor laws and regulations including Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and exempt versus non-exempt classifications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels, addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Demonstrated discretion, diplomacy, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- High attention to detail with the ability to organize, prioritize, solve problems, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and demands.

Compensation
Annual salary range: $55,000 to $65,000.
Location and work arrangement
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. This is an on-site role. Applicants must be able to commute to Honolulu, HI 96813.
