Human Resources Specialist, LOA

The Leave Specialist plays a key role in coordinating the hospital’s Leave of Absence program and provides support to related HR functions, including benefits and workers compensation activities as needed. This onsite position is located in Valencia, CA.

Role Summary

The Leave Specialist coordinates the hospital’s Leave of Absence program and assists with benefits and workers compensation program support as required.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal and State Employment laws and Leave laws, including ADA, FMLA, CFRA, and CA PDL and PFL.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Knowledge of California Workers’ Compensation and applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations, including regulatory agencies governing Workers’ Compensation insurance programs.
• Knowledge of legal terminology related to Workers’ Compensation and federal regulations.
• Knowledge of the integration of leaves and benefits.
• Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and techniques used to research, analyze, and process data.
• Knowledge of record-keeping and report preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Demonstrated judgment and confidentiality when handling private employee information.
• Excellent grammar with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and resolve conflict when necessary.
• Strong problem solving skills.

Education and Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Graduation from high school supplemented by two years of college-level course work in business, human resources, or a related field.
