Job Description

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium is seeking a Senior Human Resource Generalist to act as the first-line human resources business partner for an assigned geographic region in Juneau, AK (onsite). In this role, you will provide HR guidance and policy interpretation, lead performance management and employee relations efforts, and partner with Learning & Development and department leadership to connect HR practices with business strategy.

What you will do

  • Provide proactive leadership and guidance on interpreting human resource policy to support consistent practice across the Consortium.
  • Partner with HR staff and department leadership to help ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Consult with leadership to provide HR guidance and navigation for departmental and organizational issues when appropriate.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective fact-finding investigations as needed to help reach closure on employee relations matters.
  • Deliver day-to-day leadership and support to department leadership for performance management, including coaching, counseling, employee development, and corrective action when required.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership and employees to strengthen working relationships and support employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure fair treatment and consistent implementation of SEARHC human resource policies for all staff.
  • Work with Learning & Development to facilitate and/or provide training and education, which may include onboarding activities, customer service training, and supervisory training.
  • Assess and anticipate departmental and organizational human resource-related needs.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of HR department processes and services.
  • Serve as an HR department team member working alongside the Consortium to support both HR and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of human resources experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Relevant professional experience may be substituted for degree/education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Work toward obtaining a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI); PHR or an equivalent certification is desired within 3 years of date of hire.
  • Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Flexibility to interact with employees at all levels and function as a team player with the HR department and the Consortium.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve using current Consortium policies and practices.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and resolve allegations; summarize findings; and prepare documents for review.

Compensation and benefits

Pay Range: USD $34.15 - $47.93 per hour.
