Job Description

Contract HR Generalist position in St. Louis, MO onsite to cover maternity leave, supporting talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee job postings and applicant tracking, coordinating interview logistics from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to implement recruitment strategies and ensure a positive candidate journey.
  • Deliver new employee orientations and verify onboarding paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate background screenings, reference checks, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee questions about benefits, policies, and HR procedures.
  • Support employee relations cases, maintain documentation, and assist with internal investigations as required.
  • Facilitate internal engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal communications campaigns.
  • Aid in planning and executing company events and employee appreciation activities.
  • Manage health and welfare benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Process benefits documentation with payroll and insurers to ensure accuracy.
  • Reconcile monthly benefits statements and help employees resolve claims or coverage questions.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment communications and compliance reporting.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and produce standard HR reports.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, including I-9 processing and EEO reporting.
  • Support the annual performance review cycle and conduct employee file audits.
  • Assist with compensation reviews and updates to job descriptions.
  • Manage HR records, documentation, and retention workflows.
  • Collaborate on HR process improvements and system enhancement initiatives.
  • Support HR analytics, employee surveys, and training programs.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to advance talent and culture initiatives.
  • Perform additional administrative duties and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience, with focus on recruitment, HRIS, and benefits administration.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Solid knowledge of HR practices, employment regulations, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
