Job Description

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic business partner and HCM consultant for designated leaders, guiding workforce planning, organizational design, learning, performance management, and HR solutions to align with business objectives. This role is primarily remote with system travel and is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL (remote). Salary: USD 68 - 102 per yearly. Minimum experience: 7 years. Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Human Resources or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the business HR partner for designated leaders, acting as an HCM consultant on business and HR matters, and translating the organizational brand into HR service delivery.
  • Leads short and long term decisions within the business unit, applying expertise in workforce planning, development, and succession planning. Advises on refining or implementing new organizational design and restructures. Analyzes trends and metrics with HR centers of expertise to develop HR solutions, programs, and policies addressing business challenges.
  • Develops innovative HR ideas and solutions to help assigned areas meet business objectives, leveraging deep HR and business strategy knowledge.
  • Provides performance management guidance to management, including coaching, counseling, career development, corrective action, and discharge as needed, to drive results. Coaches leaders to model and embed cultural standards in practices and processes.
  • Balances the ability to challenge leaders with maintaining strong business partnerships with executives and leaders within the unit, applying a high level of confidence and expertise as an advanced HR leader.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, and legal requirements to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
  • Designs and delivers broad leadership learning to build capability aligned with key HR priorities and capability-building initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison between HR Operations and the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Human Resources or related field.
  • Typically requires seven years of progressive experience with responsibilities in organizational strategy, development consulting, partnering on complex employee relations issues, and leading HR functions within a complex healthcare organization.
  • Includes three years of management experience in strategic planning, directing and leading comprehensive HR functions within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrates advanced consulting skills and the ability to develop, implement, and apply organizational strategies addressing complex business challenges including change and succession management, workforce planning, leadership development and organization design.
  • Extensive knowledge across multiple HR disciplines and business practices including compensation, organizational diagnosis, employee/union relations, diversity, performance management, regulatory compliance, and employment laws.
  • Proven leadership with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships, influence leaders, negotiate effectively, and develop solutions to achieve results.
  • Ability to advise leaders on how to lead people through change.
  • Strong analytical ability and business, industry, and financial acumen; understands the role of caregivers and leaders in driving financial performance.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, flexible; able to identify and anticipate client needs and manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Expert in using data, evidence-based research, benchmarks, and HR and business metrics for critical decision making.
