Job Description
This on-site leadership role at Community Resources of Staten Island reports to the COO and offers a salary range of USD 120,000 to 130,000 per year. The Director of Human Resources oversees HR policies and programs, including benefits, employee relations, talent development, compensation, and performance management, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and regulatory compliance. The position is based in Staten Island, NY.
Responsibilities
- Oversee or administer HR programs spanning compensation, benefits, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance, and talent management.
- Keep up with HR best practices and new technologies to continually enhance the employee experience and HR function.
- Serve as an active HR partner, offering input, influence, and counsel on HR-related matters to support business growth and drive improvements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with the organization’s goals and strategies.
- Develop systems to attract talent, identify critical talent needs, and cultivate core competencies.
- Maintain accurate, compliant employee records and official employment files.
- Provide guidance to management and staff to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
- Offer guidance to resolve complex employee relations issues.
- Consult with the Executive team on matters of legal importance as needed.
- Communicate new policies and directives to all employees.
- Maintain an open door policy to support employee engagement.
- Work cooperatively with Union representatives.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of generalist experience in Human Resources.
- HR certification (SPHR) preferred.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources or an equivalent field (e.g., MBA, Organizational Leadership).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong computer proficiency with general business software and HRIS/Payroll software; Paycom experience preferred.
