Job Description

Asolo Repertory Theatre offers an onsite Director of Human Resources role in Sarasota, FL that blends strategic HR leadership with a commitment to an inclusive, mission‑driven culture. You will direct planning, development, and execution of all HR functions to ensure legal compliance and alignment with the theatre’s artistic vision. Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of the Payroll Administrator with guidance for staff and managers on HR matters
  • Act as a strategic adviser to the senior leadership team on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management to support an equitable, high‑performing workplace
  • Oversee administration of HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, employee relations, investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, engagement, health and safety, training and development, and HRIS/payroll systems
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by embedding equitable practices in recruitment, retention, and culture
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align staffing, recruitment, and retention with organizational goals and artistic vision; develop best practices for hiring, onboarding, development, and offboarding
  • Design, implement, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance and a healthy organizational culture
  • Maintain the integrity and use of HRIS data to inform strategic decisions and ensure accurate payroll, benefits, and compliance tracking
  • Serve as a key member of the collective bargaining negotiation team and ensure consistent interpretation and application of union contracts
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws; periodically review and update policies and practices
  • Research organizational trends and develop metrics and dashboards to assess HR effectiveness, turnover, engagement, and other workforce indicators
  • Monitor emerging HR trends and regulatory developments, advising leadership on opportunities and potential impacts
  • Contribute to annual salary data and workforce planning for the fiscal budget
  • Perform additional duties as needed
