Job Description
At Miller Transfer, the Heavy Haul Driver Recruiter operates onsite in Canton, Ohio, leading the strategy to attract CDL-A drivers across the United States. This role oversees the full recruitment lifecycle for both company drivers and independent contractors, building a robust talent pipeline and coordinating compliant onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Develop targeted recruiting plans to attract qualified CDL-A drivers via social media, cold outreach, job boards, referrals, and lead generation.
- Own the full recruitment lifecycle from first contact to hire for both company drivers and independent contractors.
- Foster strong relationships with candidates, industry contacts, and current drivers to sustain a healthy talent pipeline.
- Screen driver applicants thoroughly, including qualification verification, MVR review, and DOT compliance checks.
- Review safety-sensitive applications daily in the applicant tracking system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, travel arrangements, and new hire orientation in collaboration with the driver trainer.
- Maintain proactive, professional communication with every candidate at each touchpoint.
- Stay informed on industry trends, employment law, and labor regulations affecting driver recruitment.
- Participate in weekly recruiting team meetings and monthly fleet calls.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of recruiting experience in the driver or transportation sector, with an eye for strong CDL-A candidates.
- Comfort with high-volume calling, follow-ups, and closing hires.
- Highly organized and self-directed, capable of managing 20+ open positions simultaneously.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and social media sourcing platforms.
- Ambitious, candidate-centric mindset that treats every applicant with respect.
