HR Human Resources Generalist

In this HR Human Resources Generalist role, you will provide guidance across recruiting, employee relations, talent management, training, and benefits for assigned business units, serving as a trusted HR liaison to management and backing key leadership initiatives. This remote-friendly position is based in San Diego, CA, with a salary range of USD 110,000 – 130,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Champion the company culture, values, and Diversity and Inclusion efforts across the organization, participate in anti-racism learning, and advocate for equity and employee health and wellbeing.
- Administer and communicate HR programs, policies, and procedures to the assigned business unit, delivering timely, knowledgeable responses to employee inquiries.
- Foster a trustworthy, safe, and neutral environment where employees can engage with HR, and connect in person with colleagues where they work, advising BU leadership on people-related needs and concerns.
- Contribute ideas to improve overall HR effectiveness, applying basic lean concepts to streamline work, enhance programs, and reduce waste (eg Personal Kanban, A3 problem solving, Story Boarding).
- Proactively manage sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding for interns, college hires, and experienced hires.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external agencies to support candidate referrals.
- Create and maintain candidate pipelines for future hires.
- Train and reinforce understanding of EEO and harassment policies with the BU recruiting team.
- Review diversity goals and provide feedback on areas needing improvement to meet objectives.
- Coordinate college and career fair activities, interview candidates, and review recommendation summaries to inform offers.
- Extend employment offers and serve as the primary candidate contact throughout onboarding and new-hire orientation.
- Coordinate onboarding programs and HR-related training, liaising with employment agencies and internal hiring managers to support operational needs.
- Organize and manage internship programs and serve as the escalation point for interns.
- Maintain accurate applicant tracking data, including job requisitions, postings, interview schedules, and end-to-end hiring processes.
- Promote activities for the Employee Referral Program.
- Contribute to strategic staffing and mobility decisions by providing information for HR and Operations planning and Availability & Needs reporting.
- Serve as the first point of contact for BU relocations and transfers, coordinating vendor estimates, temporary housing, and community resources.
- Guide hiring managers through offers and onboarding to ensure a smooth acclimation for new hires.
- Manage immigration and work authorization processes for employees with guidance from the HR Manager.
- Support employee discipline, involuntary terminations, performance improvement plans, claims, investigations, and counseling under HR leadership.
- Oversee performance and development processes, provide manager training and support, and assist with succession planning and materials preparation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of HR Generalist experience.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS (SAP preferred), SAP, and database software.
