Job Description

Optalis Health and Rehabilitation in Whitehall, Michigan is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner to serve as the on-site HR leader for the facility. This role drives recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, and compliance while partnering with facility leadership and corporate HR to ensure HR initiatives align with the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary payroll contact, addressing pay discrepancies and coordinating adjustments with Corporate Finance.
  • Oversee the time and attendance system, ensuring timely and accurate review and approval of timecards.
  • Manage the HRIS to reflect personnel data, compensation updates, and other employee changes.
  • Process and monitor garnishments, child support, and court orders.
  • Lead the facility's recruitment efforts and supervise the applicant tracking system.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation and support retention initiatives.
  • Administer benefits programs, FMLA, personal leave, and workers’ compensation.
  • Prepare OSHA and EEOC reporting and assist with credentialing as needed.
  • Support performance management processes and resolution of employee disputes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or an equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of HR experience, including payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and healthcare regulations.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, move freely within the facility, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Tolerance for odors and conditions typical of a nursing facility.
