Job Description

This full-time, permanent public service role focuses on advising and guiding managers, supervisors, and staff on a broad range of human resources matters. Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation, guidance and support to managers, supervisors and staff on diverse HR topics, including recruitment and selection, compensation, classification, diversity and inclusion, supervision, leave, reasonable accommodations and just cause; interpret and clarify CBA, federal law, WACs and RCWs as applicable
  • Input and track personnel actions, maintain electronic and physical files, manage new hires, pay adjustments, promotions and date calculations, and ensure compliance with Civil Service Rules and agency policies
  • Monitor extended paid leave and leave without pay, process necessary personnel actions, and resolve personnel or payroll discrepancies
  • Administer the CBA Bid System
  • Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Customer-oriented, organized team player who can work independently and stay self-motivated
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Ability to enter and monitor information in multiple programs
  • Knowledge of or ability to interpret/clarify Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Federal Law, Washington Administrative Code (WACs), Revised Code of Washington (RCWs), DOC policies and related HR procedures

Telework details

This position may be eligible for telework. If approved, work may be performed from a home or other offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet connection or cellular hotspot. All duties must be performed in a safe manner, with proper care for state-issued equipment and confidentiality of information maintained while offsite.
